Food noise

The phrase “food noise” describes persistent or intrusive thoughts about food. It is meaningful to many people, but it is not yet a standard clinical endpoint in the OEA trials reviewed here.

Our evidence standard

Clear about what is known.
Clearer about what is not.

Supported

Selected biomarker changes

Human trials reported changes in triglycerides, some inflammatory and oxidative-stress markers, lipid-metabolism-related gene expression, NRG4, and selected gut bacteria or barrier markers.

Developing

Appetite and satiety outcomes

OEA has a biologically plausible role in peripheral satiety signalling. Direct, consistent human evidence for food-noise reduction remains limited.

Not established

Disease treatment claims

The studies reviewed here do not establish that OEA treats obesity, fatty liver disease, PCOS, stroke, or any other medical condition.

Current research limitations

Good science leaves room for better answers.

Science is continually evolving. As new high-quality research becomes available, this Evidence Centre will be updated accordingly.

01

Pregnancy and breastfeeding

There is currently insufficient human evidence to establish whether supplemental OEA is safe during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. Quiet Appetite™ should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding without advice from a qualified healthcare professional.

02

Who benefits most

Future trials should test broader, more diverse groups and clinically meaningful outcomes.

03

Food-noise measurement

Direct validated measures of persistent food thoughts are still missing from this research collection.

Quiet Appetite™ presents this material for education and transparency. Research findings may not apply to every individual, and this page is not medical advice.
